Itinerary : Your Tour Program

Day 1 CHIANG MAI - MAE SA VALLEY - MAE TAENG - PAI (175 kms.) Leave Chiang Mai and drive north along route No.107 to Mae Rim and turn left to Mae Sa Valley. Visit the Orchid Farms and the elephant-working site. Drive back to route No. 107 and continue northwards to Mae Taeng. There is a center for several activities (appr. THB 500.- per activity): Go for a ride on an elephant, enjoy rafting or visit the nearby hilltribe village, Lahu Shi Ba Lan. Drive back to Mae Taeng and take route No. 1095 direction Pai along hilltribe villages of Karen, Lahu, and Lisu people. A sitetrip to Pong Deud Hot Spring is worthwhile. Accomodation at BAAN KRATING RESORT or MUANG PAI RESORT or similar hotel.
Overnight : at Muang Pai Resort or similar

Day 2 PAI - SOPPONG (LUNCH) - FISH CAVE - MAE HONG SON (110 kms.) Breakfast. Drive westwards along the winding route No. 1095 with breathtaking views to Soppong, a small but relatively prosperous market village. Sitetrip on route no. 1226 to visit hilltribe villages of Mae La Na with its graceful Lanna-style temple in the valley. Drive back to route no. 1095. Visit to Lisu hilltribe village of Ban Luk Khao Lam. Continue to the Fish Cave in the middle of a teak forest with a limpid pool in which swim numerous carp families of strange colours. Proceed to Mae Hong Son.

Day 3 MAE HONG SON Breakfast. Day at leisure. Opportunity to take a boat trip on Pai River to explore the Padong village of Ban Nam Piang Din, home of the Long-necked Padong tribe where the women wear numerous brass rings around their elongated necks an extraordinary sight. Afternoon drive uphill to visit Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, offering a beautiful view over Mae Hong Son.

Day 4 MAE HONG SON - KHUN YUAM (LUNCH) - MAE CHAEM (203 kms.) Breakfast. Drive south along route No. 108 to Khun Yuam. Take an early morning bath at Pha Bong Hot Spring! Continue to Khun Yuam and visit to Wat Muai To - house of a huge and beautiful northern-style pagodas. Continue on route no. 1263 eastwards and climb to Nam Tok Mae Surin National Park and the Wild-Sunflower Field Doi Mae U-Kho. Drive back to route no. 1263 and continue eastwards passing the Hmong villages of Ban Pang Oung and Ban Pang Kia and the Karen village of Ban Haui Bong. Heading towards Mae Chaem, the route offers fine vistas over a panoramic and mountainous territory. Accommodation at PONG-SARA RESORT or CHAEM MUANG HOUSE (standard room with fan and hot/cold shower).

Day 5 MAE CHAEM - DOI INTHANON - CHOM THONG - CHIANG MAI (142 kms.) Breakfast. Visit the weaving village southwest of this district. Drive east in Mae Chaem and take route No. 1192 uphill to Doi Inthanon. Take care on the narrow and steep road as it climbs up 26kms to a checkpoint. Turn left (north) here onto route no. 1009 which leads to the Royal Pagodas to the summit of Doi Inthanon. Drive back the same route and decend eastwards at the said checkpoint passing three major waterfalls direction Chom Thong. Visit to Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong and continue on route no. 108 via Hang Dong to Chiang Mai. Visit to handicraft workshops at Ban Tawai, getting an insider�s view of Chiang Mai crafts people at work. Arrive at Chiang Mai and deliver your car to BUDGET before 06.30 p.m.
