Description : Your Tour Program
(Private daily, SIC every Saturday, 08:00-18:00 hrs.)
East is the most auspicious of compass points in the Balinese world-view, and today this excursion amongst the temples, palace ruins and unfettered black sand beaches will reveal why. Heading east to see the Kerta Gosa, or Hall of Justice, in Klungkung. The present justice hall, which is actually an open bale, is beautifully laid out within a moat and provides an exquisite example of the Klungkung style of painting and architecture. Continue to Kusamba, a fishermen village that also engages in the salt making where you will also see colorful outrigger lined up along the black sand shores of Kusamba. After a short stop we then proceed on the costal road with full view to Nusa Penida to visit the Goa Lawah (Bat Cave). This cave, whose walls vibrate with thousands of bats, is considered holy, and a temple and surrounding shrines protect the entrance. It is said that the cave leads all the way to Besakih. After lunch, we go to Taman Tirta Gangga (Water Palace). In which the original water palace built in 1948 was damaged in the 1963 eruption of Gunung Agung. The palace consists of several swimming pools and ornamental ponds, which serve as a fascinating reminder of the old days of the Balinese rajahs. Our last stop will be Tenganan, an original Bali Aga village, a stronghold of ancient traditions. You can see the local women weave the famous flaming cloth, kamben geringsing, which supposedly has the power of immunize the wearer against evil.
* Minor program changes are sometime necessary, depending on road conditions and weather.
