Located deep in the heart of the Aba autonomous prefecture in Sichuan and 400 kilometers from Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou is an impressive spot offering scenery to rival Guilin and an atmosphere and culture that is not dissimilar to much of Tibet.

Jiuzhaigou actually is a huge nature and scenery reserve covering approximately 60,000 hectares situated in the Min Shan mountain range. Ancient Chinese legend has it that the goddess Semo accidentally smashed her mirror here and the pieces which fell down the mountain formed beautiful lakes, streams and waterfalls. Despite official attempts to attract thousands of tourists, Jiuzhaigou remains a surprisingly peaceful and traditional place. Yaks, shrines and prayer wheels are all common sights. The small villages here are inhabited by Tibetan and Qiang people who conduct their lives in a very traditional manner. The scenery here is pretty spectacular too. Lakes and waterfalls spill down the mountainside, mountains tower above small hamlets and villages and there is an abundance of beautiful wildlife too. Panda, monkey and bison exist here and birds and fish are everywhere, nestled in amongst the pretty bamboo forest.

Day 1  CHENGDU Arrive Chengdu, dinner then transfer to the hotel.
Overnight : at hotel

Day 2  CHENGDU / JIUZHAIGOU Head to airport for flight CA4489 1625/1705 to Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport; then you will take another 1.5 hours journey to Jiuzhaigou Valley.

Day 3  JIUZHAIGOU The name Jiuzhaigou came from nine Tibetan villages scattered throughout the valley. Its attraction lies in its simple, idyllic beauty; a fairyland, primitive and natural and still in its pristine state. Today, you have a full day to explore this nature's jewel set into the mountains where you can see the mountains, snow peaks, lakes and folded waterfalls or you may see the habitats of rare animals such as elegant swans, little pandas, and golden monkeys.

Day 4  JIUZHAIGOU/ HUANG LONG VALLEY/ CHENGDU After breakfast, you will be transferred to Huang Long Temple where lies at the foot of Snow Treasure Peak, the major peak of Mt. Minshan. You will see the most beautiful Colored Terrace-Ponds, where 2300 ponds come into 8 groups, such as the Guest Greeting Ponds, The Flowing Pools of the Waterfall, the Potted Landscape Ponds, the Fragrant Ponds, the Jade-bathing Ponds, etc. Due to varied depth of the ponds and all kinds of mineral pigments and deposits on the bottom, the water reflects a variety of charming colours. Transfer to airport for your flight back to Chengdu on CA4490 1755/1835.
