Itinerary : Your Tour Program

Day 1 CHIANG MAI - LISU LODGE : Pick up from your hotel in Chiang Mai, 09h00: Arrival at the Lisu Lodge. A traditional welcome drink will be served followed by a briefing about the program for a day of adventure. Start the trip with the 13 kilometers (8 miles) of cycling to the Elephant Camp. Enjoy an hour of elephant riding through the mountainous jungle scenery down to the river. After a healthy picnic lunch on the bank of the river you will go on an exciting ride, about 45 minutes of white water rafting that takes you a traditional Thai country village. From there you return to Lisu Lodge either by bike or by local truck, whichever way you prefer yourself. On the way back we stop at the traditional Akha village for a chat with the shaman (spirit doctor). Return to Lisu Lodge around 4 p.m. Time at leisure until dinner. Enjoy a Thai dinner with a traditional Lisu dance show.

Day 2 LISU LODGE - GOLDEN TRIANGLE : Early breakfast at the Lisu Lodge, drive to local market of Mae Malai for a visit. A further drive takes you to the town of Doi Mae Salong which was occupied by Chinese refugees of the communist revolution. Also stop to visit Akha Lor Cha Village. Lunch at a local restaurant.From here, we drive along the mountains to visit Yao village. Continue to Mae Sai, the border town adjacent to the Burma border. Drive to the Golden Triangle for a boat trip along the Mae Khong River to Chiang Sean. Transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Day 3 GOLDEN TRIANGLE - CHIANG KHONG (THAI BORDER) - HUEISAY (LAO BORDER) - PAKBENG : Breakfast at hotel. Early morning, depart from the hotel to Chiang Khong (Thai Border) for the visa formallities at the Immigration point. Cross the river by shuttle boat to Huayxai (Laos border). Arrive Houeisay border for immigration clearance, welcome by the cruise escort and transfer to the pier. Embark on board LuangSay boat and depart Houeisay pier at 09:00. Cruise down the Mekong to Pakbeng. Stop en route to discover a traditional Lu village and observe the rural life along the Mekong River. Lunch on board. Arrive at Pakbeng before sunset and check-in at LuangSay Lodge. Dinner on the terrace where you can overlook the Mekong River. Overnight at LuangSay Lodge.

Day 4 LUANGSAY - PAKBENG - PAK OU - LUANG PRABANG : Full breakfast at lodge. (Optional: walk to Pakbeng market, where people from the surrounding village of minorities exchange their goods). At 08:30 board the boat for the second leg of the cruise. A short stop is made to visit a hilltribe village where you can watch the traditional process of Lao whiskey production before having a buffet lunch on board. Continue to Pak Ou village at the mouth of the Nam Ou River, where you visit Tam Ting "Caves of a Thousand Buddha's". Arrive at Luang Prabang before sunset. End of services.
