Kanchanaburi boasts some of the finest natural scenery in the whole of Thailand, and yet is only 129 kilometers west of Bangkok, bordering Burma. Topographically the province is defined by forested and wooded valleys of the Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai, twin rivers that meet is the site of the notorious Bridge over the River Kwai built by Allied prisoners during World War II.
