I was in Chiang Mai for 5 days and staying in Suan Doi House for 2 nights. This place turned out to be ideal for me as a taste of old days and new days(the later 2 nights I stayed with Tak Kham Village). It is an older hotel with a lot of charm and character. Lovely cats awaited and walked us back to the room, we even greeted "Kop-kun-kup" by the Minahs(looks like parrots)at the garden. The location is not far from Nimmanhaemin Road but you definetly need a transport to anywhere(20-30 bahts on the red bus), otherwise it will be quite a long walk.
The room is clean but small, shower is kind of old type with shower curtain but clean. The bed is hard. I enjoyed sitting outside, the corridor seatings or the sitting room, which made me feel like staying in my own old house. Staff are friendly and helpful. Had not try the restaurant there so no comments.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Suan Doi House.
