Getting There

By Air : The majority of travelers to Cambodia fly into Pochentong International Airport in Phnom Penh, though some visitors choose to fly directly to Siem Reap from Bangkok. A growing number are also arriving overland.

Visa and Travel Requirements

Visas may be acquired at overseas Cambodian embassies or upon arrival at the international airport in either Phnom Penh or Siem Reap, Tourist visas: US$20; Business Visas: US$25 for thirty days that may be extended in-country. Tourist visas can be extended a maximum of 3 months.

By Land : It's possible access into Cambodia by land from neighboring countries, Vietnam and Thailand (recently from Laos is not official yet).

Access from Vietnam:

There are 1 international border check point at Bavet (Cambodia site) and Moc Bai (Vietnam site). Visitors can travel by land across this point mainly from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Phnom Penh City, Cambodia, it around 230 km between these two cities. At the border, there are many taxis in both sites, and taxi cost to Phnom Penh is about US$10 per person, by National road No.1.

Travel by this way visitors can enjoy the beautiful landscape of the east part of Cambodia in the Mekong area, but one thing should be notice that the road No.1 is under construction, and it will be completed in 2003.

By Water Way : Visitors can be reached Cambodia by waterway from neighboring countries and the world. Cambodia have the international seaport Sihanoukville and the Mekong river port Phnom Penh. These are two main gateways to Cambodia by waterway, which become popular.

Cruise ship can be possible on the Mekong river from Vietnam to Phnom Penh capital city, and connect to upper Mekong closed to Laos or link it with Tonle Sap river and Lake to Siem Reap Angkor, the world wonder of Cambodia. By this route, visitors can enjoy the Mekong's views and discovery the new area of Cambodia with combine together nature, culture and life stiles of the people.

Sihanoukville the international seaport gateway have experiences for years to receive many cruise ships from the world, such as Japanese cruise ship named "Peace Boat" which hundreds of visitors have visited.

Visitors access by these ways are required to have an entry visa for Cambodia in advance.

 
Getting Around

Air: There are eight provincial airports throughout the country.

Taxi: Mainly transfer from airports or border check points to hotels in cities or towns, or for connecting the cities and Provincial towns.

Motorbike taxi: Popular used in cities, town or tourist area, it cheap and fast. Visitors can rent a motorbike in cities or tourist places.

Cyclo: The special transport in Phnom Penh city only. The Cyclo, maximum US$3 per hour, provide visitors with way to view the city at a leisurely place.

Air-con Bus: Center of the Bus is near Phsar Thmei (Central Market), which operated by a private company. Bus have two routes, Phnom Penh City Bus and connecting Bus between Phnom Penh and Provincial towns.

Train (slow speed train): There are only two railways in Cambodia, Phnom Penh - Battambang (North-West part of the country) and Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville (South-West part, coastal zone of Cambodia).

Boat: River travel is becoming popular, along the Tonle Sap, Tonle Bassac and of course the Mekong River. Visitors can travel by waterway from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap - Angkor, Phnom Penh to most of Provinces in the Mekong area, or through upper Mekong closed to Laos border or lower Mekong to Vietnam border.
