Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Malaysian state of Sabah. Its 5 beautiful tropical islands, namely Gaya, Mamutik, Manukan, Sapi, and Sulug are known among locals and tourists as the great places to go for picnics, diving, and nature walks. Also, Kota Kinabalu is the gateway to Sabah's many tourist spots -- the world-class diving destination Sipadan, and one of only four orangutan sanctuaries in the world, Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre in Sandakan.
